Hayat Chaoui (Germany) first studied languages at the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz before taking up vocal studies with Prof. Barbara Schlick at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Cologne. She completed her studies in vocal pedagogy, artistic education and concert exams. Since then, she has been singing in the oratorio genre and working with the intercultural jazz formation Ufermann. Chaoui taught at the HfMT Cologne. She is vocal coach and in charge with the department for vocal studies at the Bergische Musikschule with a focus on intercultural music education. 

Besides other activities, she initiated the singing program KIWI – Kinder- und Wiegenlieder aus aller Welt (Childern’s songs and Lullabies from Around the World), and she leads the international women’s choir WoW – Women of Wuppertal, nominated by the German Cultural Council for the National Integration Award of the German Chancellor in 2018. 

Since 2017, she has been a member of the presidium Landesmusikrat Northrhine-Westphalia as an assessor of intercultural issues. In 2019, she took up her position as an education consultant at the Chorverband Nordrhein-Westfalen. Hayat Chaoui works nationwide as a lecturer for intercultural music education. Besides, she has published WoW – Women of Our World: Intercultural Choirbook for Women’s Voices (Breitkopf & Härtel Publishing House) and Das KIWI Liederbuch: 80 Childern’s songs and Lullabies From Around the World (Helbling Publishing House).
