Anna-Maria Hefele
Anna-Maria Hefele (Germany) holds a Master of Arts (MA) from the Mozarteum Salzburg and is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and overtone singer. She performs worldwide as a soloist with various ensembles, choirs and orchestras. She is also frequently invited for contemporary ballet, circus and dance theater productions.
In order to expand the musical repertoire involving overtone singing, Anna-Maria often collaborates with contemporary composers who are writing for this particular vocal technique. She has also written compositions and arrangements for polyphonic solo voice herself. When singing overtones, it seems like one person is singing two notes at the same time by filtering and amplifying the natural harmonics in the human voice.
Anna-Maria’s YouTube video Polyphonic overtone singing went viral and resulted in more than 19 million views so far. This was followed by regular appearances of Anna-Maria in a wide range of international television shows and radio broadcasts.
