Teaching young voices – Irene Verburg

LEARN
workshop (90-150 min.)
teaching
Saturday 9.30hrs
Domplein 4

Whether you are a music or voice teacher, working or aspiring to work with young singers (age 9-16), in music class, choir or individual lessons, in this workshop Irene Verburg will take you into the wondrous world of teaching children and teens. A child’s voice cannot be trained in the same way as an adult’s voice, and in this interactive workshop Irene will work with a group of young singers from Nationale Koren, to demonstrate exercises that have an immediate effect on vocal quality, breath control, posture and intonation. Participants will be invited to join in vocal warm-up and breathing exercises. Next to general effective vocal technique for children and teens (in groups), Irene will also introduce you to her approach on teaching boys (and girls) through adolescent voice change. You will leave the room with a lot of tools, tips and tricks to bring to your own teaching situation.
