Singing with community choirs – David Lawrence

LEARN
workshop (90-150 min.)

Friday 9.30hrs
Domplein 4

In the United Kingdom, a community choir consists of a medium to large group of usually unauditioned singers. Classical music is often not their repertoire of choice. In this workshop, David Lawrence – a very experienced community choir conductor – works with you to showcase the repertoire he uses, to explore the specifics of this type of choir. You experience ways to encourage (community) choirs to sing more ‘classical’ music and other music by known composers. Additionally, David shares his insights in how to achieve breadth and depth of repertoire with inexperienced singers, and shares ways of developing both vocal and musical skills with these groups.
