In this lecture, choral educator Joanna Forbes L’Estrange talks about finding accessible repertoire for all types of choirs and the importance of good teaching resources. As former director of the five-time Grammy Award-winning vocal group The Swingles, as well as founder and director of the Cambridge-based vocal group AQUILA, Joanna is an expert in this field. She can tell you what works best, and why. With her vast experience and infectious enthusiasm, Joanna transforms choirs all over the world, particularly when it comes to performing with style and engaging with their audience. Joanna Forbes L’Estrange (UK) began her career as Musical Director of the five-time Grammy Award-winning vocal group The Swingles and is founder and director of AQUILA, the all-female vocal group at St John’s College, Cambridge. Choirs and a cappella groups in the USA, China, Australia and throughout Europe and the UK have benefitted from her coaching and workshops.
