The central hall of the Bibliotheek Neude (which by the way has great acoustics!) is the beating heart of Leading Voices. Here you will find various free activities. Get to know new music, sing and participate or listen to an inspiring story.
The EXPO itself is open from 9.00 – 18.00hrs.

TRIBUNE stage – programme Friday 29th July

Join us or learn something new at one of the presentations in the Tribune programme. You will find the Tribune stage under the escalators in Bibliotheek Neude. In the morning the language is English, in the afternoons Dutch.

In this short workshop, conductor Koen Vits will introduce you to the music of the Bob Boon Singers. The Bob Boon Singers were a leading pop group in Belgium who stopped after 50 years, in 2013. Get to know their music and sing a few songs together with Koen. Read more about the pop group.

Conductor Loes van Hapert gives children a glimpse into the world of Eastern music. In a playful way you get to know the sounds, instruments and scales of the Eastern world. Together you will sing songs accompanied by the Ud, an instrument that is often used in the Middle East. For children between 8-12 years old.

The European Choral Association has a long tradition of involving youth. Every three years a special youth committee of six to seven members is appointed. Recently, the youth committee presented a handbook on engaging youth: why it is important to do so and how to organize it. Do you have a problem attracting youth? Then be sure to come here! In 2021 the Utrecht choir Stem des Volks (Voice of the people) celebrated its 90th anniversary. The choir was founded in 1931 as part of the socialist labor movement and now has a long tradition. At 15.15 hrs one of the singers from the choir will introduce the documentary.

Zeynep Eren Kovankaya will be hosting ‘Discovering Sounds – Singing games for children’. It’s fun for children to become aware of how rich their sounds are. Yawning, crying, laughing, screaming or even talking can demonstrate different ways of using your voice. The children will be discovering their voices with some singing games and practices. Discovering Sounds is for children aged 8-12 and will be in English.

EXPO stage – programme Friday 29th July

The EXPO stage is presented by Mathilde Sanchez (F) and has English as its language. On this stage you will find performances by various choirs that sometimes also have a role elsewhere in the (main) program. In addition, everyone has the opportunity to make a presentation of 5 minutes or less during the Speakers Corner, for example to promote a book or event or to make a call for a talk or brainstorm. You can register every day for a place at the Speakers Corner at the central information desk, in Bibliotheek Neude.

This French network organization of choirs and choral organizations aims to develop new projects focusing on artistic projects and developing new music for amateurs and professionals. 13.45 hrs - Vocal Care Corner

If you often have a hoarse voice or pain in your vocal cords during or after singing, come along to the Vocal Care Corner. Every afternoon you’ll find specialists from the Dutch Association of Vocal Pedagogues who are ready to help you solve this. The sessions will be 15 minutes long. Do you want to work on a specific problem? Then please bring your sheet music in duplicate.

Today, specialists Luthine Postuma (Classical) and Gwen van Genderen – (CVT/Pop/Rock/Musical) are at the Vocal Care Corner to help you.

On Thursday and Friday in the intimate boardroom (Directiekamer) and on Saturday in the Laboratory (Laboratorium) where they can also accommodate larger groups. Read more about the specialists.

As part of the official Leading Voices program and after the kick-off session about the Partnership Canvas management tool on Thursday, Bart Doorneweert offers a number of co-creative activation clinics. During these sessions you will work with Bart on a real business case that will be provided by one of the participants. These activation clinics follow Bart’s lecture about the Partnership Canvas management tool and are only accessible to participants in the main program of Leading Voices.

In the hall of the library you will also find a market with music publishers, (inter)national choir music organisations and festivals and much more. Discover new music or make travel plans for 2023, 2024 and beyond! The EXPO is freely accessible every day between 9.00 and 18.00.
