Choral music lends itself perfectly to combinations with other art forms. In this round table, inspiring and stimulating examples of bringing art forms together and blurring the boundaries between them will be discussed. What drives artistic leaders to do this? What are their challenges and successes? And what are their tips for seeking out this experiment yourself?

Silja Fischer studied at the Humboldt University in Berlin and at the Foreign Languages Institute in Moscow. She is currently general secretary of the international Music Council.

For the past thirty years, Loïc Pierre has been producing concert-spectacles with his Mikrokosmos Chamber Choir, where the magic of the staging is combined with the dreamlike quality of mysterious and captivating songs. Loïc is the creator and artistic director of the Mikrokosmos Chamber Choir since 1989 and he draws his influences from Sam Francis, Ariane Mnouchkine, Jackson Pollock, Andrei Tarkovski, Bob Wilson, Alfred Hitchcock and Martin Scorsese.

Astrid Vang-Pedersen

Astrid Vang-Pedersen (Denmark) is a choral conductor and concert designer. She has developed a specific method on staging choral performance, called Concert Design, and finished her thesis on the subject in 2018, a project created in collaboration with The Royal Danish Academy of Music and Roskilde University, Denmark.

Tido Visser

Tido Visser

Tido is a son of an opera singer and a harpsichordist. Since 2013, Tido has been managing director of one of the finest chamber choirs in the world, the Nederlands Kamerkoor (the Netherlands Chamber Choir).
Tido believes true artists need to relate to the world they are living in. Likewise, he believes in organizations that are grounded in society. Tido believes it is possible to combine the highest standard of performance with innovation, and that it’s essential to emphasize the urgency of art.
