Wilma ten Wolde is artistic director of the four National Choirs of the Netherlands, an organization that offers top quality training in solo singing, choral singing, ensemble singing, aural skills and musicianship to talented young people from across the country. She coached and directed the choirs in over 70 a cappella and orchestral productions working with illustrious conductors including Eric Ericson, Jordi Savall, Sigvards Klava, Bernhard Haitink, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Philippe Herreweghe, Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Iván Fischer. The National Choirs often visit choir festivals abroad and are famed for their quality and excellence. In this lecture, Wilma will speak about the way she scouts, stimulates and supports these talents from a young age. How can we develop and help young vocal talents to flourish, both in choirs and as soloists?

The lecture will be full of practical tips on musicianship, repertoire choices, the pros and cons of singing in a choir, the crucial link between conducting and breathing, the joy of singing, and musical freedom!
