Co-creative classrooms – Mathieu Vulto
New insights in modern education are currently conquering the world. One of these is called ‘deep learning’, a concept that puts the children at the center of their own learning process. Teachers can use Vocal Painting, an interactive method developed by professor Jim Daus Hjernøe in Denmark, to coach children in singing together, taking initiative and celebrating their own musical successes. In these co-creative classrooms, the children are in charge of the musical process.
The Vocal Painting method uses many hand signs to communicate musical ideas. The method helps children to rediscover their voices in a new, creative and practical way. In this workshop, Mathieu takes you through the co-creative process of making music with school classes, including the basics of the Vocal Painting method and setting up a ‘live’ loop station.
