Our Story

Leading Voices, European Days for Vocal and Choral Leaders, offers you 27-31 July 2022 a European platform to meet your peers, learn from colleagues and get inspired by artistic concepts and choirs. It’s a place to co-create, exchange opinions and network, and where you get to learn more about repertoire, conducting techniques, educational methods, choral management and much more.

Different hats in your practice

As a conductor or vocal leader, you wear many hats. You lead a choir and make decisions on artistic issues, management and finances. Out of a group of individuals, you form a sustainable and coherent group through a process of coaching and training your singers. You look after the wellbeing and position of your choir members, and you arrange or compose music for them. It’s a lot, right?

Meet and be trained by peers

At Leading Voices you can meet people like you. And you can get trained by people who know your everyday job. Who know about your fears and happiness, and the struggles and joys of the job. And you’ll find inspiration, knowledge and support to get the best out of yourself and to take your choir and singers to another level.

Whether it’s in classrooms or with a choir of professional singers, whether you sing classical music, children’s songs, pop music or vocal jazz, and whether you’re very experienced or just getting started – you will find sessions to match your experience, ambitions and preferences in the programme of Leading Voices 2022.

So join us and your peers and become one of the leading voices of tomorrow!

What can you expect?

You will find sessions where you cocreate and experiment, sessions that encourage you to learn by doing, and sessions where you can just sit down to watch, listen and learn. You can share your opinion during a round table session or a Q&A, join a lounge to informally meet people who do the same work as you, or stroll through the expo to find new repertoire or subscribe to an individual session.

Leading Voices is not just about any ordinary conducting workshop or masterclass, it’s about everything you might want to do or learn as a vocal leader or choral conductor.

After an inspiring day, you sit down on one of the beautiful terraces of Utrecht to discuss what you’ve learned with your colleagues. In the evening you visit a concert or two, and at the end of the day you have a drink with your new friends from all over Europe. And then you’ll know: you would not have missed this for the world!
